Eagle Academy Plant Tour

Homewood Press gave a plant tour to Eagle Academy today. These high school students were shown how our operation works on a daily basis and were also given some pretty cool samples to take home. They had some really interesting questions for us and we hope they enjoyed their visit.

Thank you everyone who participated! IMG_20130516_111502_829

LED Lighting

On Friday, May 10th, Homewood Press installed their very own LED lighting. This will cut our watt usage in half, which is an energy savings of 53 percent!

Some fun facts about LED (Light Emitting Diode) Lighting:

1. The first practical visible-spectrum (red) LED was developed in 1962 by Nick Holonyak, Jr., while working at General Electric Company

2. LED light bulbs have no Mercury – or other hazardous material used in manufacturing.

3. There are 32,256 individual LED lights in the ball used for the New Years Eve Times Square ball drop!

4. Replacing half of all Christmas bulbs with LED bulbs would cut U.S. energy bills by $17 billion annually.

Scratch-and-Sniff Natural Gas Cards Give a Scare to Citizens in Great Falls, MT.

“Reports of a natural gas smell sparked the evacuation of several buildings in downtown Great Falls on Wednesday morning, but it turns out scratch-and-sniff cards were to blame and not a widespread gas leak”.

Check out the article below:

With this in mind, Homewood Press wants to remind everyone that Natural Gas is a serious matter and should be educated to all.

Our Rub4Scent technology has given us the opportunity to give people one of the most realistic Natural Gas Scents in the United States, however, we want to reach out to more people and would love to do so. If you are a company that would be interested in educating citizens on Natural Gas, email us at rub4scent@homewoodpress.com

Eco Commercial Printer

Homewood Press was asked to participate in a local newspaper article that talked about how local businesses are taking green initiative steps to becoming a more earth friendly community. The newspaper is called Toledo City Paper and the article is called Waste Not. Homewood explains that they have been recycling since the 90’s, however in 2008 they installed their very own on-site wind turbine. So far this year, Homewood has saved 534 trees, over 219,000 gallons of water, 132,000 kilowatt hours of energy, over 12,000 gallons of fuel and 107 cubic yards of landfill.
